Tracing Paper and Erasers
Tracing paper is our friend. I have found it to be one of the most useful tools in our toolbox. When working with pencil, I use that page under my hand so I don’t smear the pencil led all over the page. We tend to get our fingerprints on everything and it takes a lot to clean up – if it even gets clean. I’ve found that using my eraser to clean up after the project is done, tends to smear and make it worse. So use that tracing paper under your hand. It’s cleaner and easier than a piece of paper.
My next tool in that toolbox is that rubber eraser. I love that thing. And as long as you knead them often, they can last for years. They help me pull up pencil marks and add texture to the page. I also found the electric eraser has become a great tool that I use. But I try to save it for last so I don’t remove too much. If you have something that really needs to lighten up such as hair, this is a great way to remove lines of pencil.
